MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University first varsity 8+ crew of Rachelle Purych, Lisa Deklau, Kelly Kramer, Danielle Widecrantz, Elizabeth Kantak, Jessica Hurlbert, Karen Verwey, Courtney Schrand, and coxswain Mallory Fisher earned Conference USA Boat of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.

The newly-formed crew, which was assembled prior to action two weeks ago in Alabama, placed fifth out of 34 crews at the Knecht Cup held on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. On its way to a top-five finish, the crew won their heat, placed second in their semifinal and fifth in the Grand Final.

In addition to Conference USA honors earned last Tuesday, the crew also shared Big 12 Boat of the Week Honors with Texas.

The Mountaineers return to action on April 27, when they head to Lewisberry, Pa., to take on Bucknell, Connecticut and Delaware.
