MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore left-handed pitcher Harrison Musgrave
earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors for his complete game shutout victory at Texas last Friday evening at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Musgrave led the Mountaineers to a 1-0 win in game one, allowing just six hits in 9.0 innings. Musgrave struck out nine, walking just two, in the 124-pitch effort. He retired the Longhorns in order in the first, second, sixth and seventh innings.
For the season, Musgrave is 6-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 10 starts. Currently he is riding a five-game winning streak and has yet to lose in Big 12 play, posting a 3-0 record. In conference play, he has a 1.29 ERA, striking out 31 in 28.0 innings and has allowed just four earned runs.
Musgrave ranks No. 4 in wins, No. 6 in innings pitched, No. 6 in opponent’s batting average and No. 8 in strikeouts in the Big 12. In Big 12 play only, Musgrave is No. 2 in wins, No. 3 in opponent’s batting average, No. 4 in strikeouts and No. 10 in ERA.
This is Musgrave’s second time earning the honor this season, winning it on March 25 after a 13-strikeout performance over Texas Tech.
