MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Seven West Virginia University student-athletes were named to the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) All-Academic Team.

The seven honors match a program record first set in 2011. Four Mountaineers were honored in 2012.

Senior Petra Zublasing, a three-time national champion and five-time National Rifle Association (NRA) First Team All-America, scored her third career honor. Since shooting at the 2012 London Summer Olympics for Italy, the Appiano, Italy, native has earned a slew of athletic and academic honors. Following her 2013 NCAA air rifle and smallbore wins, she was named the CRCA Shooter of the Match. She won the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) smallbore and combined score titles and was named the conference’s Shooter and Senior of the Year. Most recently, Zublasing was recognized as one of WVU’s 34 top seniors with the WVU Foundation Outstanding Senior Award and honored with the University’s highest student honor, the Order of the Augusta.

Junior Chance Cover and sophomores Thomas Kyanko and Meelis Kiisk earned their second career honors. Junior Daniel Sojka, sophomore Maren Prediger and freshman Garrett Spurgeon scored their first career honors.

Hammond’s teams have earned 40 citations since he took over the program in 2006. Ninety-five Mountaineers have earned the honor since it was first awarded in 1991.
