Purych, Schrand Earn All-Academic Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University rowers Rachelle Purych and Courtney Schrand earned Conference USA All-Academic honors.

Purych, a senior from Victoria, British Columbia, is a two-time team captain and has compiled a 3.97 GPA in advertising.

Schrand, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., maintains a 3.97 GPA as an elementary education major.

Nineteen student-athletes were named to the 2013 Conference USA All-Academic Team as voted on by the league's sports information directors for women's rowing.

The C-USA all-academic rowing team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a key contributor to their team. This year's squad each compiled a GPA of 3.5 or better, averaging an impressive 3.88.
