OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Nine West Virginia University baseball players earned All-Big 12 recognition, while redshirt sophomore left-handed pitcher Harrison Musgrave was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, the conference announced on Tuesday.

A native of Bridgeport, W.Va., Musgrave is the third pitcher in WVU history to earn a major conference award. Previously, Chris Enochs (1997) was the Big East Pitcher of the Year and Steve Kline (1993) was the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year. The last major award winner for WVU was Jedd Gyorko in 2008, who was named the Big East Rookie of the Year.

He was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on four occasions this season, as well as being the National Pitcher of the Week three times.

For the season, Musgrave is 8-1 with a 2.14 ERA in 13 starts with three complete games, three shutouts and 76 strikeouts. He is currently riding a seven-game winning streak and went undefeated in Big 12 regular season play, posting a 5-0 record. In Big 12 play, he had a 1.02 ERA, striking out 61 in 53.0 innings, allowing just six earned runs.

Musgrave also was a unanimous pick on the All-Big 12 First Team, while junior first baseman Ryan McBroom and redshirt junior designated hitter Matt Frazer were each named to the All-Big 12 Second Team.

West Virginia landed six players on the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention Team: sophomore center fielder Bobby Boyd, sophomore second baseman Billy Fleming, senior catcher Alan Filauro, junior left fielder Jacob Rice, junior third baseman Ryan Tuntland and senior right fielder Brady Wilson.
