MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University senior runner Sarah-Anne Brault
finished her career as a Mountaineer at the 2013 NCAA East Preliminary Round on Friday night.
Brault came in 28th in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 35:30.65 at the Irwin Belk Track inside Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.
“Sarah has been such an integral part of this program and this was a very hard way to watch her go out,” coach Sean Cleary says. “We simply could not get her on the roll that we know she is capable of. In her five years at WVU, she had four top 10 NCAA team finishes and was an All-American. I couldn’t be prouder of her time in Morgantown as a student-athlete, but I am more proud of the memories she leave us with as a phenomenal young woman.”
The Mountaineers will continue competition at the three-day event tomorrow with Heather Adams
starting off the team at 10 a.m., in the hammer thrown. Katlyn Shelar
will compete in the pole vault starting at 5 p.m., while Chene Townsend will compete in the first round of the 100-meter hurdles at 5 p.m., as well. Sydney Cummings
will compete in the high jump starting at 6 p.m., while Jordan Hamric
, Aubrey Moskal
and Sarah Martinelli
will be the final competitors on Friday in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 8:50 p.m.
