MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University runner Jordan Hamric is set to compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 5-8 at Hayward field.
Hamric will run in heat one of the semifinals at 8:35 p.m., ET on Thursday, June 6, with the top five from each heat plus the next two best times moving on to the final on Saturday, June 8 at 5:57 p.m., ET.
This is the first NCAA Outdoor Championships for Hamric as the Bruceton Mills, W.Va., native enters the race ranked No. 18 with a personal-best and school record time of 10:07.00. Hamric recorded that time at the 2013 NCAA East Preliminary and it was the third time in outdoor season that she broke the school record.
In her final season on the outdoor track, Hamric started off by breaking the school record at the Stanford Invitational on March 29. Hamric carried that momentum to the Penn Relays where she finished third in the championship division on April 25. In her final performance before NCAAs, the senior was 0.24 seconds short of capturing the Big 12 title in the event and finished runner up with a time of 10:11.06.
ESPN3 will stream the meet live on June 6 from 6:50-11 p.m., June 7 from 7:30-10 p.m., and June 8 from 5-7 p.m., with all times listed as eastern. ESPNU will also broadcast the meet on Friday and Saturday. The Pac-12 Live Stream will provide supplementary webcasting on all four days.
