Baseball Summer League Update #1

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Throughout the summer WVUsports.com will provide weekly updates of how current team members are doing in their respective summer leagues.

This is the first addition, featuring updates from the start of summer collegiate leagues through games on Sunday, June 16.

Bobby Boyd, Bourn Braves, Cape Cod Baseball League
Boyd has started all four games for the Bourn Braves (0-4). He is batting 3-for-13 (.231) with three strikeouts. He also was caught stealing once. Against Harwich on June 15, Boyd went 2-for-4.

Sean Carley, Anchorage Glacier Pilots, Alaska Baseball League
Carley has yet to pitch for the Glacier Pilots, but is expected to make his debut this week.

Michael Constantini, Quakertown Blazers, Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League
Constantini is batting 3-for-25 (.120) with seven runs, two RBIs, five walks and eight stolen bases for Quakertown. His best performance has was on June 16, as he went 1-for-2 with one run, one hit by pitch and one stolen base.

Justin Fox, Leesburg Lightning, Florida Collegiate Summer League
Fox has been one of the hottest hitters in Florida, batting 10-for-27 (.370) with eight runs, five doubles, one homer and seven RBIs in eight games. His best game to date was on June 13, batting 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Ray Guerrini, Rockbridge Rapids, Valley Baseball League
Guerrini has had one start at catcher and is batting 2-for-11 (.182) with one run in six games. He also has made two appearances on the mound with a 5.40 ERA in two games, allowing three hits and walking three.

Ryan McBroom, Laconia Muskrats, New England Collegiate Baseball League
McBroom is expected to join Laconia sometime this week.

John Means, Falmouth Commodores, Cape Cod Baseball League
Means is on the Falmouth roster, but has yet to pitch.

Taylor Munden, McKinney Marshals, Texas Collegiate League
Munden has been a two-way player for the Marshals. At the plate, he is hitting 5-for-27 (.185) with three runs, one double, one home run and one RBI. He has had one hit in five games. Munden has pitched 3.0 innings on the mound in two appearances, allowing two hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

Max Nogay, New Bedford Bay Sox, New England Collegiate Baseball League
Nogay has played in three games and is batting 4-for-11 (.364) with one run. Against Plymouth on June 16, he went 2-for-4 with a run.

Jacob Rice, Anchorage Glacier Pilots, Alaska Baseball League
Rice joined the Glacier Pilots last week and has a played in a few games, but stats are currently unavailable.

Billy Sager
Sager began the summer with the Waynesboro Generals and started 0-for-10 before
switching leagues.

Alex Stephens, DeLand Suns, Florida Collegiate Summer League
Stephens is hitting at a .308 (8-for-26) clip with two runs, two doubles and one RBI in eight games. Last week on June 12, he had three hits with a double to lead DeLand in a losing effort.

Michael Teagle, Clippers, Karl Young College Baseball League
Teagle’s stats are currently unavailable.

Ryan Tezak, Laconia Muskrats, New England Collegiate Baseball League
Tezak earned the win in his only appearance on June 15, pitching 1.0 inning of no-hit ball and giving up one walk.

Shaun Wood, Vienna River Dogs, Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League
Wood recently just joined Vienna after beginning the season with Rockbridge in the Valley Baseball League. In his first game at Vienna, he went 1-for-5 with an RBI. Wood played in nine games for Rockbridge and batted 6-for-21 (.286) with four runs and three walks in nine games.
