Baseball Summer League Update #2
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Throughout the summer WVUsports.com will provide weekly updates of how current team members are doing in their respective summer leagues.
This is the second addition, featuring updates from the start of summer collegiate leagues through games on Sunday, June 23.
Bobby Boyd, Bourn Braves, Cape Cod Baseball League
Boyd helped Bourn to a 4-1 record last week and batted 6-for-14 (.429) with a hit in each game, while registering two RBIs and a stolen base. He is now batting .333 (9-for-27) on the season with five runs, two RBIs and a stolen base in nine games.
Sean Carley, Anchorage Glacier Pilots, Alaska Baseball League
Carley has yet to pitch for the Glacier Pilots.
Michael Constantini, Quakertown Blazers, Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League
Constantini went 2-for-15 (.133) last week with two runs, one double and one RBI in four games. For the season, he is hitting .125 (5-for-40) with nine runs, one double, three RBIs and eight stolen bases.
Justin Fox, Leesburg Lightning, Florida Collegiate Summer League
Fox cooled down a bit last week, finishing the week at 4-for-17 (.235) with one RBI and one multi-hit game. He currently ranks second on Leesburg with a .318 (14-for-44) batting average, as well as five doubles, one homer and eight RBIs.
Ray Guerrini, Rockbridge Rapids, Valley Baseball League
Guerrini broke out of a slump last week, batting 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, one homer and three RBIs on June 23 against the Covington Lumberjacks. He is now hitting .190 (4-for-21) in 10 games. He also has made three appearances on the mound with a 3.37 ERA, allowing four hits and walking walking.
Ryan McBroom, Laconia Muskrats, New England Collegiate Baseball League
McBroom reported to Laconia last week and has played in two games, where he batted 3-for-8 (.375) with two doubles and two RBIs.
John Means, Falmouth Commodores, Cape Cod Baseball League
Means began his season at Falmouth with two starts last week, posting a 1-1 record. He has a 1.86 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 9.2 innings and has allowed two earned runs on five hits. He picked up his first win on June 23 against Bourne, allowing three hits in 5.2 innings with five strikeouts and two walks.
Taylor Munden, McKinney Marshals, Texas Collegiate League
Munden has been a two-way player for the Marshals. At the plate, he is hitting 6-for-42 (.143) with five runs, two doubles, one home run and one RBI. He has had one hit in five games. Munden has pitched 3.0 innings on the mound in two appearances, allowing two hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
Max Nogay, New Bedford Bay Sox, New England Collegiate Baseball League
Nogay started three games last week and batted 1-for-10 (.100) with two walks and a hit by pitch. His season average is .208 (5-for-24) with three runs and two walks.
Jacob Rice, Anchorage Glacier Pilots, Alaska Baseball League
Rice went 4-for-16 (.250) last week in five games with one run. He is hitting .200 (6-for-30) on the season with two runs and two RBIs..
Sager began the summer with the Waynesboro Generals and started 0-for-10 before switching leagues.
Alex Stephens, DeLand Suns, Florida Collegiate Summer League
Stephens registered a hit in three of four contests last week, finishing 3-for-14 (.214) with a double and two RBIs. His season batting average is at .275 (11-for-40) with three doubles and three RBIs in 12 games.
Michael Teagle, Clippers, Karl Young College Baseball League
Teagle’s stats are currently unavailable.
Ryan Tezak, Laconia Muskrats, New England Collegiate Baseball League
Tezak made two appearances last week, pitching 2.2 innings, while allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts. He has a 2-0 record with a 4.90 ERA in three games this season. He has struck out three in 3.2 innings.
Shaun Wood, Vienna River Dogs, Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League
Wood batted 2-for-12 (.167) last week with one run, one RBI and one stolen base. He is hitting .190 (4-for-21) for Vienna in six games. Wood began the season with Rockbridge in the Valley Baseball League and played in nine games, batting 6-for-21 (.286) with four runs and three walks in nine games.
