MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Two West Virginia University swimmers will compete in the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships and World Championship Trials, set to take place at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis from June 25-29.

Graduating senior Rachael Burnett and senior Bryce Bohman will represent the women and men, respectively.

“Having Rachael and Bryce swimming this week is an honor, and it’s always great to have the Flying WV represented at the highest level of USA Swimming,” coach Vic Riggs says. “This is an opportunity to compete amongst the best in our sport, and they should be very proud of their accomplishments.”

The Mountaineers will have swims in each of the first four days as each swimmer earned respective Trial cuts while competing for WVU.

Burnett, the 2013 Big 12 Most Outstanding Women’s Swimmer, will be seeded No. 18 in the 800 free (8:42.56), No. 21 in the 400 free (4:13.80) and No. 37 in the 200 free (2:02.05).

“This is Rachael’s last meet of a storied career in which she is representing WVU,” Riggs says. “I’m very thankful and blessed to have been a part of it.”

Bohman, who was redshirted last season, is seeded No. 13 in the 50 back (55.56), No. 14 in the 100 back (55.56) and No. 43 in the 200 back (2:04.34).

“Coming off his redshirt season, this is the first step toward Bryce’s upcoming season and goals,” Riggs says. “We are all looking forward to an exciting week of racing.”

The preliminary swims will be held at 9 a.m. EST, with the finals beginning at 6 p.m., each day.
