MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Director of Athletics Oliver Luck and the Big 12 Conference have announced the 2013-14 men’s basketball schedule.

The Mountaineers will play 16 regular-season games at home, with every Big 12 team visiting Morgantown. In addition to conference play, Gonzaga, Purdue, Mount St. Mary’s, Duquesne, Loyola, Georgia Southern and Presbyterian will visit Morgantown. The Georgia Southern and Presbyterian games are part of the Cancun Challenge. The rest of the Cancun Challenge will be played in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, with the Mountaineers facing Old Dominion, followed by either Wisconsin or Saint Louis.

WVU will play non-conference road games at Virginia Tech and at Missouri in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

The Mountaineers will play two games in Charleston this season – Marshall and William & Mary.

Even though the television schedule is incomplete and additional games are expected to be televised nationally, the Mountaineers are already slated for 13 regular-season games on national television, including at least nine Big 12 contests that will be televised nationally.

“Once again, we are delighted with the number of national television appearances to showcase our basketball program and our University,” says Luck. “This schedule is very competitive from start to finish and a schedule that our fans will appreciate at home and on the road.”

At this time, WVU’s nationally televised games this season will be Old Dominion (CBS Sports Network), Wisconsin or Saint Louis (CBS Sports Network), Gonzaga (ESPNU), Purdue (ESPNU), at Texas Tech (ESPNU), Texas (ESPNU), at Oklahoma State (ESPN or ESPN2), at Baylor (ESPN2), Oklahoma (ESPNU), at Kansas (ESPN), Iowa State (ESPNU), at Oklahoma (ESPNU) and Kansas (ESPN or ESPN2).

West Virginia will open the regular season Nov. 8 at home against Mount St. Mary’s and will open Big 12 action at TCU on Jan. 4. WVU will play its first Big 12 home game against Oklahoma State on Jan. 11 and will conclude the Big 12 schedule against Kansas at home on March 8.

West Virginia will play one exhibition game against Fairmont State on Nov. 4.

“This is another competitive schedule for our guys and also one where our great fans will enjoy seeing our team at home and on the road with our following of Mountaineer fans,” says coach Bob Huggins. “From top to bottom, the Big 12 Conference will be challenging once again, and we are looking forward to getting the season tipped off.”

The rest of the game times and complete television schedule will be announced at a later date. All dates and times are subject to change for television.
