MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Director of Athletics Oliver Luck has announced the 2013-14 non-conference women’s basketball schedule today.
In addition to the Big 12 Conference portion of the schedule, the women’s basketball dates are set with 15 games to be played at the WVU Coliseum. All dates are subject to change as television contracts are announced.
“We are always excited for home events, allowing fans the opportunity to see what our women’s basketball team is capable of, and this year is no different,” Luck says. “This season’s non-conference schedule, combined with Big 12 competition, will further prepare the players for postseason play.”
Fans will have their first opportunity to see the Mountaineers in action on Friday, Nov. 1, as WVU will play host to Concord in an exhibition game. The 2013-14 season will officially open at the WVU Coliseum against Ohio State on Friday, Nov. 8. The Mountaineers will then play their first tournament of the season at the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic held in Honolulu, Hawaii. WVU will open the three-game tournament on Nov. 15 against Mississippi, followed by Washington State on Nov. 16 and host team Hawaii on Nov. 17.
On Sunday, Nov. 24, Virginia will come to the Coliseum, and the Mountaineers will close out the month with a Nov. 30 game at Youngstown State. Back-to-back home games kick off December with Coppin State and Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 3 and 7, respectively.
The Chesapeake Energy Capital Classic against Marshall, held in Charleston, is scheduled for Dec. 14. WVU will return home to face Delaware State on Dec. 18 and will head up Interstate 79 to Duquesne on Dec. 21. WVU and Elon will meet in neutral territory in Charleston on Dec. 29, for the final game before Big 12 action begins.
Times and television schedule will be announced at a later date.
