Men’s Soccer Picked Second

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men's soccer team was picked to finish second in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Poll, conference officials announced today.

Akron was chosen to win the league according to the MAC head coaches with six first-place votes, while WVU was second with one first-place vote. Northern Illinois came in at No. 3, followed by Bowling Green (No. 4), Buffalo (No. 5), Western Michigan (No. 6) and Hartwick (No. 7).

Akron also was chosen to win the tournament championship with five votes, while the Mountaineers received two votes.

West Virginia begins the 2013 season with two games as part of the WVU/Penn State Classic at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Central Connecticut State will travel to Morgantown for the season opener on Friday, Aug. 30, at 7:30 p.m., while WVU will host Radford on Monday, Sept. 2, at 2:30 p.m.
