MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - As the No. 10-ranked West Virginia University women’s soccer team opens its home schedule on Friday, Aug. 30, WVU officials have announced several promotional days this fall for the Mountaineer faithful.
WVU’s home opener against Central Michigan on Friday, at 5:30 p.m., at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, will be “Poster Night.” Fans may pick up the 2013 schedule poster featuring seniors Kara Blosser
, Frances Silva
and Caroline Szwed
. In addition to “Poster Night,” the first 200 Mountaineer Maniacs in the gate will receive a women’s soccer fan T-shirt.
Home opening weekend continues for the Mountaineers on Sunday, Sept. 1, at 1 p.m., against Morehead State. All WVU women’s soccer campers from this past summer are invited to come and wear their camp T-shirt to the game.
Three matches this fall will be “Dollar Days,” featuring all tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Colas just one dollar each. The Mountaineers’ matches against Kentucky on Sept. 15 at 1 p.m., Texas on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m., and Kansas on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. will feature this promotion.
On Sept. 22, WVU welcomes Wright State to Morgantown at 1 p.m. Kids 13 and under who attend the game are invited to a free postgame clinic.
The Oct. 4 match against the Longhorns is also a Gold Rush, and all fans encouraged to wear gold in the stands as they cheer on the Mountaineers.
WVU’s match against Iowa State on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. has been appointed as Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Fans are encouraged to join the Mountaineers in wearing pink. A check presentation to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center will take place at halftime. In addition, the match will be Faculty-Staff Day, as all WVU faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.
All retired Mountaineer faculty are invited to come out on Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. for Retired Faculty Night against TCU.
