MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University volleyball freshman outside hitter Jordan Anderson
has been named the Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week.
Anderson helped lead the Mountaineers to a 3-0 start to the season with wins over Eastern Illinois, Loyola-Chicago and Toledo. The Flower Mound, Texas native totaled 43 kills and 35 digs in 10 sets, while posting a double-double in each of her first three matches as a Mountaineer.
“We performed well as a team over the weekend and Jordan (Anderson) had a great debut,” says coach Jill Kramer. “It’s always nice for the players to get rewarded for their effort. I’m proud of Jordan for making a smooth transition into the college game.”
Anderson registered 17 kills and 13 digs in her first-career match against EIU and was named to the Blue/Gold Invitational All-Tournament Team.
The Mountaineers are off to a 3-0 start for the second time in the last four seasons, and will return to action this Friday, Sept. 6, for the Mountaineer Invitational at the WVU Coliseum.
