MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team opens its home schedule this Friday, Sept. 6, and WVU officials have announced several promotional days for Mountaineer fans throughout the 2013 season.

Starting Friday, WVU will host the Mountaineer Invitational at the WVU Coliseum. Friday’s noon match against Norfolk State has been deemed Poster Day, as all fans will receive a complimentary West Virginia volleyball poster, featuring seniors Liz Gulick, Arielle Allen and Elzbieta Klein, as well as junior Evyn McCoy. Fans will also be offered free admission for that match.

Friday night’s match at 6:30 p.m. against Canisius will be Coach Kramer’s Student Challenge night. If more than 500 students attend the match, coach Kramer will wear a buckskin skirt to coach against Iowa State on Wednesday, Nov. 13. There will also be 200 “Buck up” shirts” handed out to Mountaineer Maniacs.
The Mountaineer Invitational will continue on Saturday, and the 6:30 p.m. tilt against Navy is Military Appreciation Night. Fans who present a valid Military ID at the gate will receive free admission.

Three dates this season have been tagged as a “Dollar Day,” with admission and select concessions being offered for just one dollar. The Mountaineers’ matches against Georgetown on Friday, Sept. 20, Texas Tech on Saturday, Nov. 2, as well as TCU on Saturday, Nov. 16, will all feature this promotion.

This season marks the 40th season of West Virginia volleyball, and the Friday, Sept. 27 match against Kansas State at 6:30 p.m. will be the 40th Anniversary Celebration, featuring 1970s Night. Former players will be honored during the match, and fans are encouraged to wear 1970’s attire, honoring the inaugural season of WVU volleyball in 1974.

Baylor will be in town on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 p.m. for Dig Pink Night - the annual night devoted to supporting breast cancer awareness. The Mountaineers will be wearing their pink uniforms and fans are asked to come out and wear pink to honor those who are fighting, have won the battle or have lost their lives to breast cancer.

The annual Gold Rush match will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, while welcoming Kansas to Morgantown. Free admission will be offered to all fans, as the Mountaineer faithful is advised to wear gold.

West Virginia’s nationally televised match against the defending Big 12 and National Champion Texas Longhorns on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m., will be a White Out. All fans are encouraged to wear white, while also enjoying dollar admission.

WVU will host in-state rival Marshall on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m., and the night will be Halloween/Costume Night. Fans should wear their Halloween Costumes to the Coliseum while supporting the Mountaineers. Awards will be given for the best costumes.
