NORMAN, OKLA. – West Virginia is facing 16th-ranked Oklahoma today in the Big 12 Conference lid lifter for both teams at Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and FOX (Gus Johnson, Charles Davis and Kristina Pink) will be televising the game nationally.

The Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG’s coverage begins with the Mountaineer Tailgate Show at 3:30 p.m. Tony Caridi, Dwight Wallace and Jed Drenning will handle the game broadcast, while studio host Jeff Culhane will take care of the pre- and post-game coverage.

This evening’s game will be the sixth meeting between the two schools.

Here is today’s Countdown to Kickoff:

10 – Last season, Oklahoma had NCAA Top TEN rankings in first downs (ninth), passing yards (fifth), third down offense (fourth), kickoff return average (seventh) and punt return average (eighth).

9 – Dana Holgorsen’s Mountaineer offense has produced at least 40 points in NINE out of the 27 games he coached at WVU so far.

8 – EIGHT Mountaineer players were first-time starters last Saturday against William & Mary: Mark Glowinski (OG), Brandon Golson (OLB), Marquis Lucas (OG), Paul Millard (QB), KJ Myers (WR), Tyler Orlosky (C), Charles Sims (RB) and Dreamius Smith (RB).

7 – The Mountaineers have SEVEN players that have appeared in more than 30 games during their college careers: Darwin Cook (39), Doug Rigg (38), Tyler Anderson (37), Brodrick Jenkins (37), Ivan McCartney (34), Will Clarke (30) and Pat Eger (30).

6 – West Virginia has scored SIX defensive touchdowns under Holgorsen - two in 2012 and four in 2011.

5 – Oklahoma has lost just FIVE times in 87 games at Memorial Stadium under Coach Bob Stoops. Two of those losses came last year to Kansas State and Notre Dame.

4 – West Virginia is making its FOURTH trip to Memorial Stadium to face Oklahoma. The Sooners defeated the Mountaineers 47-14 in 1959 and 52-10 in 1978. West Virginia defeated Oklahoma 41-27 in 1982.

3 – Oklahoma has won THREE times against West Virginia in five all-time meetings, including last year’s 50-49 decision in Morgantown.

2 – Oklahoma freshman quarterback Trevor Knight will be making his SECOND career start for the Sooners today. Knight was 11-of-28 for 86 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in the Sooners’ season opener against Louisiana-Monroe last Saturday.

1 – The Mountaineer offense had just ONE play of 20 yards or longer against William & Mary last Saturday – Ronald Carswell’s 69-yard touchdown reception.
