MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University volleyball freshman outside hitter Jordan Anderson has been named the Big 12 Conference’s Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week.

“Jordan has continued to stay steady throughout two weekends of play now and has put on some very impressive performances,” says coach Jill Kramer. “The team really rallied around her this weekend when she needed them the most, and that’s what good teams do.”

Anderson was named the Most Valuable Player of the Mountaineer Invitational, while leading WVU to a 4-0 record over the weekend and a 7-0 start to the season – its best start in program history. She recorded 48 kills on 113 attempts for a .257 hitting percentage for the four matches, while also chipping in 31 digs. The freshman had 15 kills and 11 digs against Canisius on Friday night, marking her fourth double-double of the season through West Virginia’s first seven matches.

The Flower Mound, Texas, native leads the Mountaineers with 91 kills on the season with a 4.14 kills per set average and a .258 hitting clip, guiding WVU to 20 consecutive set wins – the longest streak in program history.

Anderson and the Mountaineers will travel to Morehead, Ky., for the Eagle Challenge this Friday, Sept 13, and Saturday, Sept. 14.
