MOREHEAD, Ky. – The West Virginia University volleyball team beat Campbell 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-20) in the second match of the Eagle Challenge Saturday morning.

“Kind of the same story as last night, we weren’t playing our best volleyball but we found a way to get it done,” says coach Jill Kramer.

West Virginia has now posted seven sweeps on the season, while dropping a total of just two sets.

“This is a much-improved Campbell team from what I’ve seen in the past,” Kramer says. “Coach Greg Goral has done a great job with them, and they play really hard. It was a fun match to play.”

The Mountaineers (9-0), who are still unbeaten on the season, were led by stellar play from the two-time Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week Jordan Anderson.

Anderson registered 15 kills and eight digs for the match

Sophomore setter Brittany Sample dished out 33 assists for an 11 assists per set ratio, while fellow sophomore Nikki Attea chipped in 10 kills on 21 attempts for a .381 hitting percentage.

“It has been difficult to control the tempo of the game,” Kramer says. “There have been some issues with the management of the game, but our girls have to play through that.

“I feel like our effort is there but our focus has to take it up a notch.”

The Mountaineers fought back in the first set after trailing by as many as five. The set saw 10 ties and five lead changes. Jordan Anderson recorded five kills, as WVU won the set 25-22.

West Virginia posted a .243 team hitting percentage in the second set, behind five kills on nine attempts from Attea. WVU held off a late comeback from the Camels (7-3) to win the set 25-22.

Anderson boosted a .385 hitting percentage in the third set, with six kills. The Mountaineers held Campbell to just a .045 hitting clip, completing the sweep of the Camels.

Sophomore libero Anna Panagiotakopoulos recorded 15 digs for the match.

WVU will be back in action this afternoon at 4:30 p.m., against Hampton (4-3), in its final game in the Eagle Challenge.
