Blosser, Connelly Lost for Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University midfielders Kara Blosser and Ali Connelly will be out for the remainder of the 2013 season after suffering season-ending knee injuries.

Blosser, a senior out of Spotsylvania, Va., tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee during the Mountaineers’ 4-0 victory over Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 13, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, in Morgantown, W.Va.

Connelly, a junior out of South Bend, Ind., tore the ACL in her right knee during the Mountaineers’ 1-1 double-overtime draw at Duke on Sept. 6.

Blosser and Connelly will both have surgery later this week and are expected to make full recoveries.

Blosser started the first seven games of the season for the No. 10-ranked Mountaineers (4-2-2) and tallied 11 shots, including four on-goal. Connelly saw time in three games this season and earned an assist in the Mountaineers’ 4-0 victory over Central Michigan on Aug. 30, in Morgantown.
