MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team travels to Ames, Iowa, to face Iowa State on Saturday, Oct 12, at 5 p.m., inside the Hilton Coliseum.

“After a tough one on Wednesday (against Baylor), our team responded very well in Thursday's practice,” says coach Jill Kramer. “We've made a lot of improvements when it comes to handling adversity and bouncing back this season – I'm proud of our team for that.”

The Mountaineers (15-3, 2-2), who are coming off a 3-0 defeat to Baylor Wednesday night, have tied their most wins in a single season since 2009 and are 1-4 all-time against Iowa State (9-5, 3-1).

The Cyclones, who were No. 25 in last week's AVCA poll and are receiving votes this week, won both meetings last season between the two schools.

“In my opinion, Iowa State is one of the most-energizing college volleyball environments to compete in, in the Big 12, so we are really looking forward to the match there,” Kramer says.

WVU leads the Big 12 in opponent hitting percentage, holding its oppositions to a .147 hitting clip this season. The Cyclones are hitting .248 as a team on the season, good for fourth in the conference.

West Virginia's freshman outside hitter Jordan Anderson leads the Big 12 in kills, while sophomore setter Brittany Sample is third in assists, sophomore libero Anna Panagiotakopoulos is fourth in digs and junior middle blocker Evyn McCoy is fifth in the conference in blocks.

The Mountaineers are No. 48 in the RPI, and Iowa State comes in at No. 57. Cyclones' head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch is in her ninth season at the helm, posting a 181-86 all-time record.
