Former West Virginia University football coach Frank Cignetti was recognized during the first quarter of Saturday’s football game against Texas Tech for his recent induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Cignetti coached four years at WVU from 1976-79 before moving on to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) where he won 182 games during a 20-year coaching tenure that ended in 2005.

Cignetti was also recently inducted into the Division II Football Hall of Fame.

On hand to help recognize Cignetti were two of his former players, WVU Director of Athletics Oliver Luck and College Football Hall of Fame member Darryl Talley. Also on hand were WVU College Football Hall of Famer Major Harris and coach Don Nehlen.

Tommy Lopez, president of the West Virginia Chapter of the College Football Hall of Fame, presents Cignetti with a framed certificate.
