MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The freshmen duo of Kaja Mrgole and Oana Manole moved on to the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional doubles main draw quarterfinal with their third consecutive win of the tournament today in Charlottesville, Va.

“We continued to see some good things today in doubles and singles,” says coach Miha Lisac. “It’s important for us to stay dedicated toward the process of getting better and continue to improve.”

The freshmen tandem of Mrgole and Manole battled Virginia Tech’s Carol Kahoun and Isel Martinez-Marcos to an 8-7 (1) victory, their third of the tournament and fourth this fall.

The No. 7-seeded pair of sophomore Hailey Barrett and junior Ikttesh Chahal suffered their first loss of the Regionals, falling to the No. 13-ranked duo of Nikol Hristova and Melissa Esnal Olguin from Old Dominion, 8-5.

Sophomore Vivian Tsui, the Mountaineers final player in the singles main draw bracket, suffered her first loss of the tournament, after winning three consecutive matches over days one and two. She fell to the No. 2-ranked Danielle Collins of Virginia in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.

In the consolation bracket, Barrett fell to Katelyn Stokes of Howard after capturing the first set, 2-6, 6-1, 10-3. Chahal stumbled against Marijana Novakovic of Old Dominion, falling in straight sets, 6-0, 7-6 (3).

Mrgole tallied her team-high sixth singles match win this fall, defeating Jocelyn Lu of Pitt, 6-2, 6-4.
