MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team dropped one spot to No. 5 in this week’s College Rifle Coaches’ Poll.
Today’s rankings are based on the team’s last score shot. The Mountaineers (2-0, 1-0 GARC) shot 4656 in their win at Nebraska (4650) on Oct. 13.
Alaska-Fairbanks ranks No. 1 for the second straight week, while Kentucky is No. 2. Jacksonville State is up four spots to No. 3, and TCU dropped one spot to No. 4.
Air Force is tied with WVU at No. 5. Nebraska ranks No. 7, Memphis checks in at No. 8, and Ohio State and Murray State rank No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.
The Mountaineers return to the range on Saturday after a week away from competition. WVU welcomes No. 12 Army to the WVU Rifle Range on Oct. 26. The shoulder-to-shoulder match between the Great American Rifle Conference foes will begin at 8 a.m. and play into the afternoon.
