MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University swimming and diving teams travel to Charlottesville, Va. this weekend to compete in the Big 12/ACC Challenge quad meet, featuring Texas, Penn State and host Virginia on Nov. 8-9 at the Virginia Aquatic and Fitness Center.
The Friday session begins with diving at 2 p.m., while the first swimming session begins at 6 p.m., the Saturday session begins at 10 a.m.
Coach Vic Riggs and the Mountaineers travel to Virginia this weekend.
“This will be a great weekend for the teams to see where we stand up against some of the best talent in our sport,” says coach Vic Riggs. “Having the opportunity to compete against three top 25 programs in the country will help our athletes prepare for our end of the season meets at Big 12 Championships and NCAAs.”
The teams have been off the past week after hosting the WVU Invite back on Oct. 25-26, where the men’s team placed first and the women’s team finished third. The Mountaineers took first in the overall team competition.
“We definitely have several people capable of making NCAAs on both the men’s and women’s team. By presenting these types of meets helps them get comfortable to racing in this kind of environment,” says Riggs. “We’ve done a great job the season improving each time we have competed and I’m looking for us to continue improving this weekend on the boards and in the water.”
