MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia swimming and diving teams completed day two of the Big 12/ACC quad meet Saturday at the Virginia Aquatic and Fitness Center in Charlottesville, Va.
“It was another strong day for us,” said coach Vic Riggs. “It wasn’t as strong as yesterday overall but we had more standout swims today.”
In the 1000 free, freshman Emma Skelley
placed 11th(10:19.99) for the women, while junior Daeton Davenport
placed 12th (4:37.86) for the men. Other finishes for the men include freshmen Nathan Howells
and Nate Carr
who placed 14th (4:43.43) and 15th (4:44.14), respectively.
In the women’s 50 free, four swimmers scored points for the Mountaineers. Gillmore finished 13th (24.29), senior Eva Burlingham
placed 14th (24.94) and Ogden placed 15th(24.96).
In the men’s 50 free, Squires placed second in the crowded field with a time of 20.41. Vialette placed 10th (21.13), Glegg placed 15th (21.40) and Csonka placed 16th (21.61).
In the men’s 100 back, Bohman placed third with a time of 48.18, while Querciagrossa and Marsh placed 13th (51.30) and 15th (51.99), respectively.
In the 200 breast, Zee placed 11th (2:26.73) for the women, while Carr placed seventh (2:05.59) for the men. Other finishes for the men include Brill in ninth (2:06.17) and Iotte in 15th (2:09.98).
In the 100 fly, Ogden placed ninth (56.68) for the women. Burlingham and Gillmore placed 15th (58.91) and 16th (59.20), respectively.
In the men’s 100 fly, Bohman placed fourth with a season-best time of 49.60. Marsh and Vialette placed 13th (51.48) and 15th (51.66), respectively.
In the 200 free, Skelley placed 13th (1:56.57) for the women, while Glegg took seventh (1:40.60) for the men.
In the final individual event of the day, the 400 IM, Carr took seventh for the men with a time of 4:02.03.
The quad meet finished with the 400 free relays. For the women, the “A” team of Gillmore, Ogden, Burlingham and Parenti placed 11th with a time of 3:36.29.
The men’s “A” team of Squires, Bohman, Vialette andGlegg placed fourth with a season best time of 3:02.06. The “B” team of Marsh, Csonka, freshman Austin Green
and Carr placed 11th with a time of 3:08.24.
“It was good to see this level of competition and see the teams race well against them,” said Riggs. “This sets us up well for the Mizzou Invite in two weeks.”
The teams are off next week before they head to the Mizzou Invite in Columbia, Mo., on Nov. 21-23.
