Carte Set for Cape Cod Hall of Fame Induction

Daniel Carte will be inducted into the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University baseball volunteer assistant Daniel Carte will be inducted into the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame this weekend at the Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham, Mass.
 
A native of Hurricane, W.Va., Carte recovered from a slow start for Falmouth in 2004 to become the league’s Most Valuable Player. He batted .308 and led the league in home runs (11), RBIs (38), slugging percentage (.560) and extra-base hits (17).
 
Carte helped lead Falmouth to the league championship and was later named the Summer League Player of the Year by Baseball America. He previously was named the MVP of the Great Lakes League.
 
Carte was selected in second round of 2005 draft by Colorado and played six seasons in the minors, hitting .272 with 61 homers, 115 doubles and 316 RBIs.
 
Joining Carte in the induction ceremony is Garrett Atkins (Cotuit), Merrill Doane (Chatham), Ed Drucker (Harwich), Mickey O’Connor (Chatham), Jim Prete (Wareham/Bourne), Ryan Speier (Bourne) and Matt Wieters (Orleans).
