IMG College, the multimedia rights partner of West Virginia University, and AudioNow, the world’s leading call-to-listen platform, announced today that West Virginia basketball fans can connect to live games this season through a simple mobile telephone call.   Fans can now access live college basketball broadcasts – from anywhere in the U.S. –and synchronize the local radio call to the telecast through AudioMatch ™.
This weekend, and for the rest of this season, West Virginia fans can dial (712) 432-6998 from any phone to listen to live basketball broadcasts, as well as continued football broadcasts ,on the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG.  The basketball service officially launches Sunday, November 17 when the WVU MOUNTAINEERS host the DUQUESNE DUKES.  Pre-game time for the tip off on the West Virginia IMG Sports Network will be at 3:30 pm.  For Saturday’s WVU football game vs. Kansas, pre-game starts at 8:30 a.m.
Through a new proprietary application from AudioNow, called AudioMatch ™, fans can match and synchronize the radio broadcast with the telecast to listen to their favorite radio voice while watching the action on TV. By using two telephone keypad buttons, fans can adjust the timing of the radio call to match what they see on TV.
IMG College, which is partnered with two-thirds of the BCS universities and operates the country’s largest independent sports radio network serving 2,200 affiliates, will also bring basketball games through AudioNow to the University of Nebraska, and the University of Florida, potentially followed by other schools.
“As with college football, basketball fans who live outside the market of their favorite team, often miss hearing the color of the local radio broadcast,” said Alexandra Moe, Director of Partnerships at AudioNow.  “Now fans and alumni can hear that broadcast no matter where they live. This brings the local call and local color to any national Mountaineers fan.”
The call-to-listen phone number incurs no extra charge and is the equivalent of making a standard mobile call. As data costs continue to rise on mobile devices and unlimited voice plans continue to proliferate, radio-by-phone is emerging as one of the most affordable ways in the United States for listeners to connect to their favorite broadcasters when they are away from the radio, television and Internet.
