MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Three members of the No. 26 West Virginia University cross country team earned USTFCCCA NCAA Division I All-Region honors.

A total of 450 student-athletes earned the distinction by finishing among the top 25 individual finishers at one of the nine regional sites across the country.

Senior Sarah Martinelli, sophomore Kelly Williams and freshman Jillian Forsey each finished in the top 25 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional meet last weekend.

Williams, who is making her second appearance in two seasons on the All-Region Team, finished in 21st place overall with a personal-best time of 20:49. Martinelli and Forsey followed in 22nd and 25th place, respectively.

This is the second honor for Martinelli this season, who received All-Big 12 Conference recognition following an eighth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships in Waco, Texas, on Nov. 2.

The Mountaineers dropped two spots in the USTFCCCA National Poll to No. 26 after finishing fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Regional meet.

West Virginia earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Cross Country Championships this Saturday, Nov. 23, at 1:15 p.m., in Terra Haute, Ind.

This NCAA appearance marks the sixth time in the last seven seasons the Mountaineers have qualified for the NCAA Championships under the direction of Cleary.
