MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team ranks No. 3 for the third straight week in this week’s College Rifle Coaches Association Poll.
Today’s ranking is based on the Mountaineers’ last score shot. WVU (6-0, 4-0 GARC) shot 4678 for a victory over Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) foe Navy (4627) on Nov. 16, in Annapolis, Md.
Kentucky holds the No. 1 spot for the third week as well, defeating Navy with a 4693 score. Alaska-Fairbanks holds the No. 2 spot again this week, with 4674 and 4692 showings at Jacksonville State and TCU.
TCU moves up three spots to No. 4, while Air Force remains No. 5. Ohio State shows up in the top 10 this week, ranking No. 6, while Jacksonville State falls three spots to No. 7.
Army sits at No. 8, with Nebraska at No. 9. Memphis and Ole Miss share a spot again this week at No. 10.
The Mountaineers will begin their spring semester schedule against GARC foe NC State on January 19, 2014, at the WVU Rifle Range.
