MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University swimming and diving teams start their spring schedule with the Orange Bowl Swim Classic on Jan. 3, at the Jacobs Aquatic Center in Key Largo, Fla.
“The Orange Bowl committee does a great job putting the Orange Bowl Classic on,” says coach Vic Riggs. “The local community is so supportive of all the teams that come down to train and compete in the meet, which creates a great environment.”
The sprint-style meet will feature 20 events with 14 schools in the Florida Keys for training and the meet. Some of the schools competing include 2013 NCAA men’s champions Michigan, Duke, Colorado, George Mason and Florida International.
“I want to thank Doc, Kelli and all her Jacobs Aquatic Center staff for a wonderful training trip,” says Riggs.
The competition is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., and a full recap will be available on WVUsports.com
The teams return home from their training trip to host Pitt in the annual Backyard Brawl on Jan. 11 at noon.
