MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University track and field team is set to participate in the PSU National this weekend in State College, Pa.
The two-day event will begin on Friday, Jan. 31, and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 1.
“We will be taking a smaller than usual group over to Penn State this weekend. These past two weeks have crippled our group with early season sicknesses,” says coach Sean Cleary. “Those who will be making the trip will have a perfect opportunity to raise the bar in terms of the level of competition that we will see.”
The Mountaineers are coming off a third-place finish at the YSU College Invitational last weekend in Youngstown, Ohio. Freshman Sydney Scott
and senior Stormy Nesbit
each recorded first-place results in the mile and triple jump, respectively.
This will be the second time this indoor season West Virginia will participate at Penn State, after competing at the PSU Relays on Jan. 11.
“This meet will have a big time track and field atmosphere,” Cleary says. “We are looking to see a few more within the group step up and embrace the opportunities.”
The action gets underway at 5 p.m., on Friday, with the women’s weight throw and long jump, and concludes on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., with the men’s and women’s 4x400 meter relay.
