MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –
The freshmen tandem of Oana Manole
and Kaja Mrgole
enter the spring season for West Virginia women's tennis ranked No. 9 in doubles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Region.
The West Virginia duo finished the fall season 5-8, and battled its way to the quarterfinals at the USTA/ITA Regionals in Charlottesville, Va., in October. Manole and Mrgole fell to the No. 2-ranked pair in the region, Maria Belaya and Jeltje Loomans, from William and Mary, 8-4.
After two matches this spring, the young team remains unbeaten in doubles with victories against Akron and Liberty. In singles play, each sports a 1-1 record.
The Mountaineers (0-2) travel to in-state rival Marshall, tomorrow, Feb. 1, to take on the Thundering Herd at 1 p.m., in Huntington, W.Va.
