Track Led by Relay Teams at PSU National

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University track and field team completed its second and final day of competition at the PSU National in State College, Pa., this evening.
 
The Mountaineers recorded a first-place finish in the 4x800 meter relay. Senior Sarah Martinelli, sophomore Brianna Kerekes, as well as freshmen Megan Yuan and Amy Cashin crossed the line with a time of 9:10.68.
 
The West Virginia distance medley relay team of sophomore Savanna Plombon and freshmen Amy Cashin, Sydney Scott and Bria Welker placed second with a time of 11:45.00.
 
Senior Stormy Nesbit placed third in the long jump in her first appearance in the event this season. Nesbit recorded a leap of 5.82 meters (19-01.25). Nesbit also recorded a fifth-place result in the triple jump with a mark of 12.27 meters (40-03.25).
 
In the high jump, sophomore Marsielle McBeam posted her personal-best jump as a Mountaineer (1.70 meters), while finishing in fifth place overall.
 
The Mountaineers return to the track next weekend at the Akron Invitational in Akron, Ohio. The two-day competition gets underway on Friday, Feb. 7.
