The Extra Tenth: Brooklyn Doggette
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Extra Tenth is back in 2014! A blog dedicated to the West Virginia University gymnastics team, a different Mountaineer will be featured each week.
This season’s sixth edition features freshman Brooklyn Doggette. A Mountaineer by birth, Doggette’s parents also were student-athletes at WVU, as her father, Cecil, played defensive back for the football team (1990-91), and her mother, Becky, was a gymnast (1993-94).
A Pickerington, Ohio, native, Doggett was a level 10 gymnast at Buckeye Gymnastics. A hard worker that has battled back from injury, the two-time Junior Olympics National Team qualifier is currently fighting for a beam lineup spot and could see time on the event soon. She also is working toward a spot on the uneven bars.
The Mountaineers return to the WVU Coliseum this Friday night and play host to Pitt in the annual “Beauty & the Beast” meet at 6 p.m. The WVU wrestling team will compete against Clarion simultaneously. All tickets are $1 each, courtesy of United Bank.
