Williams Earns All-Academic Honor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Sophomore runner Kelly Williams of the West Virginia University cross country team earned United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Honors, announced today.
 
Honorees must have compiled a cumulative 3.25 grade point average or greater and must have finished as an All-American or among the 15 finishers (or 10 percent) in their regional meet.
 
Williams, who has maintained a 4.0 GPA while majoring in journalism, was one of 16 student-athletes recognized with a perfect GPA.
 
The Chesterland, Ohio, native finished 21st overall at the Mid-Atlantic Regional on Nov. 19.  
 
A total of 129 women Division I Student-Athletes earned the distinction of USTFCCCA All-Academic. Dartmouth’s Abbey D’Agostino was named the USTFCCCA Division I Women’s Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2013 cross country season.
 
This past fall, Williams and the Mountaineers qualified for their sixth NCAA Championship appearance in seven seasons under the direction of coach Sean Cleary.
