Tennis Falls to Old Dominion

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team concluded its road trip to Norfolk, Va., today, falling to Old Dominion, 6-1.
After winning the first set, 6-3, freshman Oana Manole etched her third singles victory of the season, downing the Monarchs' Ivana Vukovic, 10-3, in a tiebreaker. Manole dropped the second set to Vukovic, 6-3.
The Mountaineers (1-5) gave up the doubles point, with the duo of junior Ikttesh Chahal and sophomore Vivian Tsui, teaming up for the first time this season, falling to Ingrid Vojcinakova and Marijana Novakovic, 8-1.
In singles, Old Dominion took four of the five matches played. At No. 1 singles, freshman Kaja Mrgole, WVU's win leader, stormed back in the second set with a 6-0 victory after dropping the first set to Nikol Hristova, 4-6. Mrgole stumbled in the tiebreaker, 10-7, losing her second match of the spring.
The Mountaineers are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Ridgeview Racquet Club against Buffalo at 1 p.m.
