MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University track and field team is set for the WVU Gold/Blue this Friday, Feb. 21, at the WVU Shell Building.

This will be the second, and final, indoor meet hosted by the Mountaineers this season, and also the final weekend of competition prior to the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Ames, Iowa, on Friday, Feb. 28.

Last weekend, West Virginia competed at the SPIRE Invitational in Geneva, Ohio. Sophomore Marsielle McBeam, who was most recently named the Varsity Sports Report Athlete of the Week, placed first in the high jump with a personal-best mark of 1.72 meters.

Senior Katlyn Shelar placed second in the pole vault, recording a season-best mark for the second straight week. Shelar has also taken attempts at the indoor school record (4.07 meters) in each of the past two competitions.

In the mile, senior Sarah Martinelli posted a personal-best time of 4:47.13, finishing in seventh place overall. It was the first time this season Martinelli participated in a running event longer than 800 meters.

The action will get underway Friday at 4:30 p.m., inside the WVU Shell Building.

Results and information regarding the meet can be found at WVUsports.com shortly following the conclusion of the meet.
