MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Six members of the West Virginia University volleyball team are set to participate in the USA Volleyball tryout this weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo.
“The USA National Team tryout is an amazing opportunity for our girls. They will spend the weekend playing with and against some of the best talent in the country,” says coach Jill Kramer. “This is a very special event for the players to showcase their talent, and I’m confident our girls will represent WVU volleyball well at the Olympic Training Center.”
Among the 248 participants representing 106 different colleges are 63 liberos, 61 middle blockers, 61 outside hitters, 36 setters and 27 opposites.
The 27 athletes who have already completed their collegiate eligibility will be evaluated for potential spots on the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team. Athletes with remaining collegiate eligibility will be evaluated for the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team, as well as the U.S. Collegiate National Teams program.
This tryout is open to current college-aged athletes and older, born in the years 1986-1996, and high school athletes born in 1996 or earlier.
Selected athletes will be notified by early March. USA Volleyball will announce the selections by the end of March once all roster spots are accepted and confirmed.
A live stream of the tryout will begin at 4 p.m., on Friday at TeamUSA.org/USA-Volleyball.
