MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University track and field team completed its final weekend of competition prior to the Big 12 Indoor Championships next Friday, Feb. 28, in Ames, Iowa.
Most of the Mountaineers competed in the WVU Gold/Blue Friday at the WVU Shell Building, recording eight first-place finishes.
Junior Karissa Knabenshue
placed first and set a personal-best mark in the shot put with a throw of 13.12 meters. Knabenshue also placed first in the weight throw with a season-best mark of 14.98 meters.
In the pole vault, senior Katlyn Shelar
won the event with a vault of 3.86 meters. Freshman Tori Bertrand
finished second, while registering her personal-best mark of 3.51 meters.
Senior Stormy Nesbit
competed at the Alex Wilson Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind., placing third in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 12.69 meters.
The Mountaineers are back on the track next weekend with the Big 12 Indoor Championships on Friday, Feb. 28, in Ames, Iowa.
