|Freshman Oana Manole leads the Mountaineers with five singles victories this spring.
MORGANTOWN,W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team concluded its two-match homestand today with a 5-2 loss against the University at Buffalo at the Ridgeview Racquet Club.
The Mountaineers (2-6) dropped the doubles-play point to the Bulls. The freshmen tandem of Kaja Mrgole
and Oana Manole
fell to Tanvi Shah and Miranda Podlas, 8-2. Junior Ikttesh Chahal
and freshman Sophie Allen-Fisher
were unable to pull out their match to Anamaria Candanoza and Marta Stoyanova, falling 8-2.
In singles, Manole tallied her fifth win of the spring, tying her for the team lead with Mrgole. Manole downed Margarita Kotok, 6-3, 2-6 (6-3). Sophomore Vivian Tsui
won her third match of the spring, second consecutive, defeating Candanoza, 6-3, 6-4.
West Virginia travels to Penn State on March 2 to face off against the Nittany Lions at noon.
