No. 10 WVU to Host Texas Tech

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 11/10 West Virginia women’s basketball team will play host to Texas Tech at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the WVU Coliseum.
The Mountaineers are averaging 75 points per game, having defeated 17 opponents by double figures, and have held 18 opponents under 60 points this season. WVU limits opponents to 58.1 points per game, the second-lowest average in the Big 12 and 24th-lowest average nationally.
WVU is 24-3 overall and holds a 13-2 mark in Big 12 play. Looking for their eighth consecutive win, the Mountaineers face the Lady Raiders for the second time this season. Earlier this season, WVU defeated Texas Tech 70-51 on Jan. 22 in Lubbock, Texas.
The Lady Raiders are hungry for their first Big 12 win, falling 63-62 in the final seconds last week to then-No. 12/12 Oklahoma State. Texas Tech is currently 6-20 overall and 0-15 in Big 12 action.
Amber Battle leads TTU with 17.2 points per game, shooting 41.8 percent (167-400) from the field and is the leading rebounder with 7.8 boards per game. Minta Spears averages 9.2 points per game and has collected the most threes (42) for Texas Tech.
Shauntal Nobles is TTU’s second-leading rebounder with 6.0 boards per game. Haley Schneider leads the Lady Raiders in blocked shots with 43 this season. As a team, Texas Tech averages 59.6 points, 35.8 rebounds per game and shoots 72.1 percent from the free throw line.
In its last loss, Battle had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, Ivonne Cook-Taylor had 14 points, and Nobles added eight points and nine rebounds.
