RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Junior left-hander Harrison Musgrave continued his dominance to help lead the WVU baseball team to an 8-1 victory Saturday afternoon over Sacramento State at Riverside Sports Complex.

Musgrave (3-0) earned the win over the Hornets by striking out six in six innings pitched while scattering three hits. Musgrave has not allowed a run in his last 16 innings.

Brennan Leitao (1-2) recorded the loss after allowing five runs, all earned, on seven hits through six innings pitched in addition to two walks and three strikeouts.

The Mountaineers started the scoring in the top of the second inning. Senior first baseman Ryan McBroom led off the frame with a mammoth home run to left field. RBI doubles by junior third baseman Justin Fox and junior shortstop Taylor Munden extended the Mountaineer lead to 3-0.

McBroom provided Musgrave with additional run support in the top of the fifth with a single through the left side to score junior center fielder Bobby Boyd. Junior second baseman Billy Fleming then scored to bring the lead to 5-0 as senior left fielder Jacob Rice grounded out to shortstop.

The Mountaineers notched three more runs in the top of the seventh. Junior right fielder Trevor Simms picked up his first career RBI on a single up the middle, Fox recorded his second RBI of the game on a single through the right side and senior shortstop Michael Constantini drew a bases loaded walk.

Eight different batters recorded a hit for the Mountaineers, led by three hits and two hits from Fox and McBroom, respectively. The duo also had two RBIs apiece.
