MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Five members of the West Virginia diving squads will travel to the NCAA Zone “A” Championships on March 10-11 at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Blacksburg, Va.
“After the practice days all of the divers look great,” says diving coach Michael Grapner. “Having time to warm up and practice has given them the confidence they need to compete.”

For the women, junior Jennifer Rey, sophomores Lindsay Schmidt and Tori Taffner and junior Haily VandePoel will be competing on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

Senior Liam McLaughlin will be the lone diver for the men's squad and will compete on both boards.

“Haily looks great on both boards, she has worked hard all year and is really ready for the meet tomorrow,” Grapner says. “Liam is taking it all in as this is his last meet of his collegiate diving career.”

In last season’s NCAA Zone “A” Championships, VandePoel made the finals on the 3-meter, placing seventh. McLaughlin became the first male diver in school history to reach finals at the Zones, placing 15th overall on the 3-meter.

Live scores will be available online at DiveMeets.com, and a full recap of each day’s action will be available on WVUsports.com.
