Baseball Travels For Single Game at UNLV

LAS VEGAS – The West Virginia University baseball team will play its first midweek game of the season at UNLV on Tuesday, March 11. First pitch is scheduled for 9:05 p.m.
The Mountaineers (8-4) are currently riding a six-game win streak after sweeping a weekend series against Sacramento State and UC Riverside. West Virginia defeated Sacramento State, 8-1, in the first game, followed by a 2-1 win and a 7-4 win over UC Riverside.
Junior second baseman Billy Fleming has a team-leading .400 batting average and is one of seven starters to be above a .300 clip. Senior first baseman Ryan McBroom is hitting .348 with two doubles, four homers and 17 RBIs, while junior shortstop Taylor Munden is batting .321 with six doubles, one home run and five RBIs.
Junior right-hander Michael Bennett (0-0) will get his first career start at West Virginia. In three relief appearances he has a 2.84 ERA and four strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
UNLV (10-4) will be throwing right-hander Kenny Oakley (0-1), who has a 0.51 ERA in five appearances with 18 strikeouts in 17.2 innings.
The Rebels are led at the plate by Joey Armstrong and Edgar Montes, who have .371 and .340 batting averages, respectively. Armstrong has one double, three triples and nine RBIs, and Montes has four doubles and 11 RBIs.
