ST. LOUIS  – West Virginia’s Juwan Staten and Eron Harris were named to the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) 2013-14 all-district team for District II.
District II encompasses Division I players from New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Staten averaged a team-best 18.4 points and 5.9 assists in 31 games for the 17-14 Mountaineers. The junior guard became the first player in school history to accumulate more than 500 points, 150 rebounds and 150 assists in the same season.
Earlier this week, Staten was named first team all-Big 12.
Harris averaged 17.9 points and made a team-best 86 3-point field goals. The sophomore guard also led the team in free throw shooting at 85.6 percent. Harris was an all-Big 12 honorable mention choice.
Syracuse’s C.J. Fair was named District II player of the year and Villanova’s Jay Wright was named coach of the year.
Voting was conducted from its national membership of 900-plus.
