WILMINGTON, N.C. – The West Virginia baseball team will play its final non-conference weekend series of the season this weekend at UNC Wilmington.
Game one is set for 4 p.m. on Friday, game two begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday’s finale is set for a 1 p.m. start. Links to live video and stats can be found on WVUsports.com.
West Virginia (11-6) is coming off a 5-1 victory at No. 12 North Carolina on Wednesday night, led by a complete game three-hitter from junior left-hander John Means
. Senior first baseman Ryan McBroom
went 3-for-4, and junior second baseman Billy Fleming
and junior third baseman Justin Fox
each added two hits and two RBIs apiece.
As a team, the Mountaineers are batting .292 with 24 doubles, 10 home runs and 42 stolen bases. McBroom is batting .388 this season with four doubles, five homers and 23 RBIs, while junior center fielder Bobby Boyd
is hitting .351 with a team-leading 12 stolen bases.
Junior left-hander Harrison Musgrave
and junior right-hander Sean Carley
will pitch on Friday and Saturday, respectively, after each had rough outings last week at Cal State Northridge. Musgrave is 3-1 this season with a 2.25 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 32.0 innings, while Carley is 3-0 with a 2.78 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 32.1 innings.
Sunday’s starter has yet to be determined.
UNC Wilmington is countering with left-hander Mat Batts (0-2, 4.60 ERA) on Friday, right-hander Jordan Ramsey (0-1, 3.21 ERA) on Saturday and right-hander Nick Monroe (1-1, 2.39 ERA) on Sunday.
UNC Wilmington (9-10) is batting .269 as team with 22 doubles, six homers and 11 steals. Infielder Corey Dick is hitting .365 with one double, two homers and 16 RBIs, while infielder Terence Connelly is batting .333 with 10 RBIs.
