Fleming Named Big 12 Player of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior second baseman Billy Fleming of the WVU baseball team earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors for his performance last week that included a win over No. 12 North Carolina.
Fleming batted .647 (11-for-17) with four runs, one double, five RBIs, two walks and one stolen base in four games. Fleming had a pair of two-hit games, one three-hit game and one four-hit game. Against UNC on Wednesday, Fleming went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two walks. The junior then went 2-for-4 with two singles in the series opener at UNC Wilmington on Friday, while going 3-for-5 and 4-for-5 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Fleming scored two runs apiece on Saturday and Sunday, plus drove in two runs on Saturday and one run on Sunday.
This is Fleming’s first career Big 12 weekly honor.
The Mountaineers open the home season tomorrow against Pitt at Hawley Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
