Tennis Falls to No. 22 Cowgirls

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.  – The West Virginia University tennis team concluded its roadtrip to Oklahoma today with a 7-0 loss to No. 22 Oklahoma State.
In doubles, the duo of sophomore Hailey Barrett and Ikttesh Chahal snapped its losing skid with an 8-7 (5) win over the Cowgirls' pair of Carla Tur Mari and Maria Alvarez. The win was the tandem's third this spring and 15th since paring up last season.
OSU took the doubles point, claiming victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, 8-2 and 8-1 respectively.
At No. 2 singles, freshman Kaja Mrgole rebounded after dropping the first set, 6-1, to Kanyapat Narattana. Mrgole forced a tiebreaker in the second set, but was unable to continue her momentum, only earning two points in the tiebreaker.
The Cowgirls clinched the team match at the conclusion of the No. 1 singles match between Megan McCray and Barrett. Barrett fell in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
The Mountaineers (3-16, 0-8 Big 12) finish their regular season against Iowa State on Sunday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at the Ridgeview Racquet Club.
