  • MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University men’s soccer coach Marlon LeBlanc announced the addition of two student-athletes for the 2014 season.
The signees include forward Tolu Ibikunle (Wynnewood, Pa.) and midfielder Michael Peprah (Laurel, Md.).
    Tolu Ibikunle
Tolunimi “Tolu” Ibikunle, F, 5-10, 205, Wynnewood, Pa./Continental FC Delco Academy
Plays for coach Jonathan Rhodes with Continental FC Delco Academy … was a member of the EPYSA ODP team from 2008-10, as well as playing for Region 1 ODP … tied for second on the team with two goals in seven games this season … scored four goals in 16 games with 10 starts from 2011-13 … played for coaches Jim Murray and Brendan Sullivan at St. Joe’s Prep … All-Catholic Second Team in 2013 … brother, Tolani, played soccer at Wake Forest and was drafted by the Colorado Rapids in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft … brother, Tomi, played soccer at Pitt.
LeBlanc on Ibikunle: Tolu participated in our 2014 Winter Academy and really made a tremendous impression on our staff. Tolu offers us a different dimension in our attack. He’s big and strong, and he’s a physical back to the goal center forward with very good feet, and pace. He knows his strengths as a player and takes full advantage of them. I think that Tolu is going to surprise quite a few people. He missed much of the last two Academy campaigns with the Continental FC Delco Academy due to injury, however he’s healthy now, and we’re confident he’s going to develop into a very dangerous attacking threat.
    Michael Peprah
Michael Peprah, MF, 5-10, 155, Laurel, Md./ASA Hotspurs
Plays for coach Joachim Walker with ASA Hotspurs … team captain from 2012-14 … member of the 2012 Colonial League Region 1 team … leading goal scorer in 2011 and 2013 … three-year USYSA regional finalist from 2011-13 … four-year letterwinner and 2013 team captain for coach Jason Hall at Reservoir High … scored the game-winning goal in overtime to win the 2012 Maryland 3A State Championship … 2013 Richard Montgomery Rocket Shootout Champions … 2013 All-Howard County Second Team … second on the team in goals in 2013 with six … second on the team in goals (7) and assists (4) in 2012.
LeBlanc on Peprah: Michael also participated in our 2014 Winter Academy, and really distinguished himself as a player with tremendous potential. Michael was born in Ghana, and grew up in the Maryland area. He’s flown way under the radar, but Michael is the type of player that will really blossom in our environment. His feet are excellent, especially his left foot. He has the ability to create for himself, and others, and reminds me of a bigger version of Shadow Sebele. Michael is a talented soccer player, quick and athletic, and has all the tools to help this team immediately.
Ibikunle and Peprah join Jad Arslan (Roswell, Ga.), Alec Boerner (Midlothian, Va.), Colin Hester (Camp Hill, Pa.), Jacob Icolari (Denver, Colo.), Conner Owens (Richmond, Va.), Joey Piatczyc (Lee’s Summitt, Mo.), Austin Stout (Jamison, Pa.) and Louis Thomas (Houston, Texas) as part of the 2014 class.
